Hi all,

Wondering if someone can tell me whats happening to my system

I have a 20D and a 550EX, I have a Sigma 28-70 2.8 EX DF lens which is basically not off the camera.

On occasion when using all three together the flash bails out of ETTL mode into TTL mode and will not fire at all. This has let me down recently on a press shoot.

So my question is what is or could be causing this, the only way to get it back to ETTL (i think) was to take out batteries and replace them.

Has anyone any ideas or need anymore info?

May happen with bad contact. Check that flash shoe holds the flash tight and clean all contacts with isopropyl alcohol. Flash shoe replacement is cheap. I had those problems with good'old D30 and 550EX. The shoe bent gradually when I shot vertically a lot.
