I dont know why sometimes i feel that when im walking around at a festival or popular local event here in SF, and i see other enthusiast and their larger more pro looking bodies i kinda feel insecure. To understand what i mean maybe its like your driving along in your Nissan G35 but then a Porsche 911 pulls up along side you. I know in my head that my Gripped T2i with a 17-55 with hood isnt a light setup and its capable of great pics but when i see a 5d mk II i feel like man thats nice! Just like my car analogy its not about speed or tech specs but its just nice! lol sorry for my rant!...anyone felt the same?

up until a couple of months ago I was sporting a rebel xt, I never felt insecure. Maybe a little jealous sometimes haha. Dont worry about it, no matter what there will always be someone with a bigger/cooler/higher end something than yours. Remember its the photographer that determines the image not the camera.

What about us 7D/5D owners who come up against the 1D crowd? Or a 70-200 f/4 vs a 2.8 or 400mm 2.8?

Someone's always going to have something bigger/better than you. I don't know about other people, but I stopped comparing what I had to other people a long time ago. You'll drive yourself crazy if you don't.

Never. I admired their gear, but loved mine and got some results I was very happy about mine...I don't buy cameras to impress anyone or fit in with anyone...I buy them because they're exactly what I want. When I bought my first 30D I was over the moon...I never stopped being happy with that little guy and was pretty sad to see it go...

Besides...a gripped 30D with a Tok 11-16 or a TC'd 70-200L still looks pretty badass ;)

Nope....I know my Rebel is JUST as capable as an XXD in the image-quality department, and Crop is just as viable a format as Full-frame.

I let my pictures speak for themselves.

Not really. I own a 450d and am proud of it...

For me, it's about the lenses. You see so many 'better' SLRs out there with standard kit lenses and then you see a rebel type body with a 15-85 or something that has involved some level of thought, and you immediately know who is the one who walked into Dixons and said 'I need a really good camera so I can take really good pictures' and the one who said 'I have an SLR crop body and I need a lens suited to the photographs that I am taking.'

I find I go to a popular event, local rugby match for example and you will see someone with a FF standing bolt upright on Auto or P and just spraying, then you see someone with a camera worth half/third of the amount getting into postion to get right in on the action, checking their shots, fingers moving dials and buttons. You know where the better photos will come from and for that reason they/I have no reason to feel insecure....hard done by perhaps that someone has the camera you would like and can't use it, but insecure, no...

Yes. I knew their AF was less frustrating. Now I have the better gear..but it still pisses me off when it misses and envy the Nikon guys.

Did you lose Digital Photo Professional (DPP)? Get it here (external link). Cursing at your worse-than-a-map reflector? Check out this vid! (external link)

Yeah, my Xsi coupled with any of my lenses would probably smoke the 7D with the "kit" lens (whatever they're bundling with it these days)

It depends. Is that 1D owner driving a Ford Tarus or a Toyota Camry? Is he wearing a Members Only jacket or a Columbia Fleece. Boxers or briefs?

Its not the camera, its the guy holding it that gets the picture.

....the best camera is the one you have on you at the time.

There's plenty of room for more over on the dark side! ;)

I don't see why they would. I'd feel insecure with one of those consumer grade Nikon SLR's with the small body/lens (that everyone seems to own) . It looks like a toy camera :)

I think it's just a natural human instinct. Although I have a 5D2, I am always well aware that the person next to me with a T2i could well be a better photographer and at the end of the day, it is the results that count!

I did a little bit.

BUT after selling my XTi and lugging around a 30D and 40D I kinda missed that little champ. The IQ really was just as good, and the light weight was nice. It's a little different now with the 5D, the IQ is much better so I don't care about the size or anything. If they could stuff a FF sensor into a Rebel body I think I'd want it! :)
