I purchased the Lenspen Sensorclear (external link) and it should be delivered in a few days.

I just noticed it said for CCD sensors. Well my 40D is a CMOS sensor. Does this matter?

Thanks.

Nope...
Canon fielded the first CMOS sensors in DSLRs starting with the D30 in 2001.. with one exception all Canon DLSRs have been CMOS.

Canon techs also pioneered the idea of cleaning sensors with lens pens.

Thanks! I just took a big sigh of relief.

I've used one on a 40D and it worked great!

Make sure to give the sensor a blast with a rocket blower before using the lenspen - just in case there's some grit on there.

Yay, my sensor is nice and clean.

What I did:
1. Rocket Blower
2. Brush (sensorklear)
3. Rocket Blower
4. Sensorklear
5.Rocket Blower

Thanks for the tips!

Rocketblower and Sensorkleen are all I use...

The Loupe makes it really easy to get those nasties off the sensor!

The Sensor Klear brush is not intended to be used on the sensor. It is great to clean around the lens mount, etc. A rocket blower and the Sensor Klear are a great combo.

Try flipping the batteries over?

I don't mind having to lift it a bit higher 'cause that makes it easier to work the pen around the sensor.

I did flip the battery's which did make the lights work the lens must be upside down too maybe that why it doesn't focus right
