I have posted on this before but since then some new P&S have come out. I tried the Panny zS7 and I was completely underwhelmed with the IQ. Video was amazing pictures were terrible. Sent it back.

I really don't have the money for another camera but I am going to get one because I am not taking as many images on a daily basis as I would like. I have a 40D and it isn't practical to carry around all the time. I also don't have a wide angle lens for it yet.

My family is growing up too fast and I am missing valuable special moments. I have a sd1100 which was fine but I would like something with better IQ and decent video for the occasional funny or special moments.

I know very little about the SD series because I haven't looked at them in years. I know the s95 is awesome but I am not sure I need all of its bells and whistles.

Please give me your thoughts on this... I want to buy one asap :)

From what I see, you can get the IQ of the S95 for cheap by giving up some of the less useful features (HD video, for example) and dropping down to the S90. You can still get them new for about $130 less than the S95.

Staples had close out on the SX120 for around $167 recently. Some stores still have them. Great camera for the $$$.

It's true that the SX120/SX130 are great value.
But they are not great cameras. Especially not for a DSLR user like you,
who was already disappointed in the results of the hugely popular ZS7.
The SX130 is not going to satisfy your needs. Not at all.
The image quality will be less than what you want,
and the experience will be less than thrilling. It's plastic. No fun.
If the S90 fits in your budget - it's a great idea.
I have a 40D and an S90. The S90 is so convenient to carry and to operate.
You could use every functionality of it, including RAW and manual controls,
or you could use its great auto mode and still get great quality photos.
