Interesting shot. I've found my 2.8 zoom handy in low-light situations as well. I can't tell because I'm viewing from an iPod touch, but I'm guessing it could have been sharper with IS on. Any reason you left it off?

Great pic! Did you crank up the sharpness in a custom picture style?

The 17-55 is my favorite lens. I was worried about it but I have really enjoyed it.

The only problem is now I don't like the quality of my 18-135 or 55-250 and need to sell them.

The 17-55 puts them to shame AND shoots in low light AND creates good bokeh.

Nice shot, I would love to have same quality lens on FF, 24-70 got no IS, 24-105 is slower.

The 17-55IS is an amazing zoom lens. I'm a recent convert myself. The IQ is really impressive.

Is it worth the premium over the Tamron and Sigma equivalents though?

I had the 17-35 2.8-4 non VC. Not bad for < $300
17-50 2.8 non VC is $350 is, VC is $480 but not as sharp...

So for $400 more the image quality is better than most L's and it's the piece of mind knowing I have a very good range zoom that's fast, has IS, good bokeh, well built and under $1000. I'm just mad I didn't buy it a year ago. Definately!!!!! Worth the extra money
