Will Canon ever offer the ability to take more than 3 shots in AEB? I would really like to be able to take 5 or 7 shots without having to touch the camera. I could buy a Promote Control but it costs over $300. Seems like an easy firmware fix for Canon to provide for non 1 series bodies. Nikon AEB can do 3/5/7 exposures.

Canon obviously can, since they do it in the 1D series, but also obviously they don't want to allow it in lesser models.
So until they changed their mind it's not likely to happen.

Manual. Set the meter.......9 clicks the the left, 18 back to the right. Every 3rd click shoot a shot...6 shot AEB..simple. Just send me the 300 bucks.....lol.

Even easier, set up your AEB via the Q screen to -1,0,+1, hit the shutter to click off the 3 shots, hit Q, rotate dial 3 times, and hit the shutter to click off 3 more shots. Throw out the redundant 0 shot. Others set up C1-3 to do some of this, but I am not sure how you keep your settings the same from the non Cx modes over to the Cx modes.

It is more annoying than difficult, I understand, but it is still a "press a button, rotate a dial 3 clicks, press shutter" to get those extra 2 AEB frames for a total of 5.

As mentioned above 1D can do 2, 3, 5 or 7 shot AEB, has been for 10 years! Canon just needs to add the firmware to the other bodies but hasn't bothered for some silly marketing reason.

It's absurd that they don't include this feature in at least the 7D and 5D lines as well. Yes, there are manual workarounds, but that's not the OP's point. Silly that Canon's reserving such a simple feature for the highest of their high-end cameras. I don't know anyone who's going to base a purchasing decision on *that*.

Maybe "we" (active forum members) should petition Canon to offer it for their 5D and 7D models? :)

I suppose if there were enough there is a remote and very, very tiny chance they could offer it - if not, they might offer it in the successor.

But it would need a lot of support - more than a few thousand users.

EDIT: different petition, not facebook-based

That petition is Facebook based... brilliant - or at least it ask me to sign in using Facebook.

No wonder nobody is signing it.

Anything that's serious shouldn't be based solely on Facebook in the first place.

I tried and of course I don't remember Facebook password as I don't use much and locked out.

I have no reason to use it... possibly because I don't understand the average student my age... there is only one reason to use it for me - to chat with a family member who is slow when it comes to responding to emails :D
But then that's accomplished via Facebook in MSN :D

But honestly speaking - Facebook is to me - and I suspect to many - associated which exhibitionist irresponsible adolescent drinking behaviour - so it's not necessarily something to be taken seriously.

That doesn't mean it cannot be used seriously - but you end up being a sort of "lost island or sanity" - the other reason to use it is obviously brand exposure (Microsoft, Montblanc) which is pretty much simple advertising - and hence a photography fan page might have uses...

But I think my point gets across? :)

I don't find the manual workaround particularly gratifying--I use AEB to get shots for HDR, and having to adjust mid-stream can result in camera movement and even more exaggerated problems with moving subjects.

Couldnt 5 brackets be achieved via software update? It doesnt seem that difficult in my mind. :)
