Just had a look at the Manfrotto 498 rc2 - wow it's heavy at 610 gram (RS3 is 250! + allow another 100gr for QR adapter). A friend of mine has it's predecessor and it's very good but there is no comparison in the lockup and lack of droop on the RS3. It's a pity you don't live a little closer (this side of the planet!) so you could try mine out. A professional photographer friend of mine was using the Manfrotto Hydrostatic(expensive!) ballhead - tried my RS3 and promptly ordered two! At a recent bring and buy at my camera club I was looking VERY enviously at an ARCA ballhead - we all know what they cost! It was not for sale but the owner was proud of it's quality, smoothness and positive lock. It is beautifully made, somewhat larger, a lot heavier and 12+ times the price. He is not happy now he has tried this (RS3) cheap bit of Chinese £$*&!
Have a look on Fototip (E Bay) for pikkies and specs. If you are in doubt about the Triopo RS3 buy Manfrotto and sleep happily - they do what they say they will do and the model you quote has both pan lock and adjustable friction - the RS 3 does not, maybe important.
Life is for living, cameras are to capture it (one day I will learn how!).
