Nathan Can you repeat the question, please? More info | Oct 29, 2010 10:51 | #5 Burying my face in my hands... sorry to say, but the only thing you got right was ISO 100. Taking photos with a fancy camera does not make me a photographer.

And I think you will be more pleased with the results. http://www.flickr.com/photos/n00b_photos/

I would use a tripod and try to use an aperture that is closer to the middle of the range with f/11 typically at the end of the spectrum. Not always easy to get everything in focus at that distance. I also suspect that you are likely violating the minimum focus distance for the lens which can't be corrected with a smaller aperture. A macro lens really makes a difference as it is designed for close distance photography.

Thanks for the suggestions. yoyodunno, I did set the camera to aperture priority and f/4. The shutter speed is 1/1600 in this shot.

I have just purchase this lens and trying to get use to it before I take a tour of Israel next week. I like this one a lot! http://www.flickr.com/photos/n00b_photos/

The colors, depth of field, and contrast are great. ->Mike

In lieu of a dedicated macro lens, using extension tubes will get you closer and bit more magnification. Your second attempt is much better than the first...
