Nice. I have to hand it to Dodge, out of all the retro models around this is one of the best I reckon. I wish we got them over here!

Thanks for sharing...out of all the retro-inspired muscle cars, as far as design goes the Challenger is and has always been my favourite by a mile! These pics are awesome...only thing...the SEARS logo in the second (I think) pic is really bothering me...I think cloning it out might take away some distractions :)

Thanks for the comments, glad everyone finds this comparison of new vs old as interesting as I do. The '70 pictured is a one year only model and around 2500 of them were built. A numbers matching example in good condition will run you about 80,000 dollars which is roughly double the cost of a new Challenger. Much cheaper than I thought it would be considering the prices hemi cars are fetching.

...Hate to say it but I prefer the new car too. Having both like this guy does would be ideal though :-)

Very nice pictures of very nice subjects. :-)
Since there doesn't seem to be any exif information with them, would you mind posting which lens you used and a few of the settings?
These look like they were taken in near direct sunlight, and I always have problems with that. Looks like maybe these were underexposed a bit and then the contrast and brightness were brought up a little?

Really nice shots of some amazing cars, while I really like the new one, that original one sure looks more intimidating ... probably personal taste.

Amazing how you managed to capture the yellow tint without blowing out the top of the cars, as noted it looks like this was captured in bright sunlight, well done !

You're right, these were taken in direct sunlight, all except the last are straight from camera with only a resize and cropping to personal taste.
The last one has six people and four other cars removed so it looks a bit um, different. I used my trusty EF s 15-85 at 100 ISO. Not sure if it was luck or the custom .pf2 file i created for car shows-which often have this kind of horrible lighting. Time will tell.

If you had a tripod & took a few shots as the people moved around, it would make it easy to use different parts of the cars without the people in them. And some of the dufi might notice & get out of your way. ;)

Thanks, that was all I took. Tried it before with a Red '10 and a Plum Crazy '71 that were parallel parked but it didn't do much comparison-wise.

I have a nice tripod-it lives in my garage, wouldn't have helped in this case since one of the cars was a white mid-80s Crown Vic which was perfectly reflected down 3/4 of the new Challenger.

The T/A Challengers weren't meant to be 1/4 mile bracket racers, but they could still crank out low 14's stock, high 13's with slicks and open headers. The T/A's had a beefier suspension and were made for Trans AM racing against Z/28's, Mustang Boss 302's.

I love how they've managed to modernise a classic design and retain the main basic elements so there's very little doubt about which car they're recreating. The Charger and Chevy Camaro are two that also spring to mind, but the current Mustang fails in my opinion.
