After 22 inches of rain in two days, the Cape Fear River flooded the park and caused the ship to float after 45 years of sitting on the mud bottom.

Not enough of the battleship in the photo. If you hadn't said what it is in the title it would take someone awhile to dee it in the shot. To me it looks like the subject of the photo is the scenery.

Canon Stuff...

Yup

Not to mention, everything looks kinda soft and the colors are kinda flat and drab.

Hmm, could have cropped some off the left to help emphasize the ship. I couldn't show more ship because of a line of trees.
I was trying the maintain the sunset look, but I do see where the colors can be seen as 'drab'.
I made some changes, and it does look better than the first, showing more ship and less park.
Thanks for the thoughts.

I think the second one works better but is still lacking.

Thanks

I like your composition. I think the sky, trees and ship make for a nice shot. In this situation I would have taken 3 bracketed shots 2 stops apart. Than I would have either used two them to blend the sky and the other elements together or used all three and produced an HDR shot.

I have used the shadows-highlights tool and then dodge tool on the ship. Decreased the red color cast on the ship. Then boosted the contrast and cropped the shot.

I like the original one.
I would tone down the yellow of the trees, and brighten it a little.

Am I the only one that finds the blown sky top right to be very distracting?

Your right. This need to be exposed for the sky and the foreground.

How's this? I brightened it a bit and tried to lower the sky blowout.
Think it will sell better with, or without the text?
Thanks
