for those of you who have a Kenko KNT-20 - The B & H website says the KNT-20 does not have outside threads, the Lensmate website says it does. It has got to be the same - both list as KNT-20. Has anyone gotten one of these from either site? I want one with the outside threads so I can use filters. Or, if you have other suggestions for where to purchase, I would appreciate it.

Thanks!!

Jackie, I don't have the lens, but it has been discussed in several threads, do a search, and you will find the KNT-20 has threads for 62 mm filters, while the Canon tele does not.

Thanks everyone. I don't know why, if it is actually the same product, one place would say it has outside threads, and the other says none. Just wanted to verify it really does have outside threads before I order. Which I did, from golbalmart.com.

jboyd and G3guro,

Finally you decided to get the KNT-20. Don't forget to post your pics with your new tele converters.

didn't get it yet. According to UPS tracking, it left Phoenix, AZ, at 12:32am today. UPS site says it should be delivered on Friday. First thing I will look for is front threads!! I just hope my 52mm lensmate beats it here. I have a 58mm lensmate already because all of my camera equipment from my film SLR is 58 mm. Looks like I will be investing in both, or should I say all, 52, 58 and now 67mm filters. I will let you know when it arrives.

jboyd, getg3,

Yeah! Wohooo!! I'm waiting for it to come. The salesperson didn't know whether it is front threaded.
But, I trust getg3!! Let's just hope it is. By the way, I also purchased a Kenko +10 macro closeup and Kenko 52mm adapter. Keep you guys/gals posted! :-)

Oh, by the way.....I called THKphoto.com and the guy who answered the phone suggested to get the VC-200HI (HI series) as opposed to the KNT-20 (Standard series). He said it's better quality, pictures come out sharper. Is that true? But, I don't have that kind of money. :-(

G3guro.

Was looking at a Popular Photography magazine last night, and the Adorama ad listed a Kenko 5x at 52mm. I hadn't seen one of those with all my searching online. One more thing to think about! :)

for wide or telephoto adapters with out threads on the outside what stops the use of the filter at the other end. I would think a polarizer filter monted to a lensmate then a wide adapter attatched to the polariser should work fine. Plus the polariser would be cheaper at the smaller size than 67mm.

I figure it should work as those big 7 thousand dollar telephoto lens for sports accept smaller filters further down in the tube rather than threading a giant filter on the end.
Just a thought. I have a canon wd-58 0.7X58 Wide adapter from my GL1 video camers. It is a huge piece of glass. I would think it will give good results on my G3 but I haven't picked up a lensmate yet to try it with or with out a polarizer filter in between.

Any one have any comments as to if this set up would work or be compromised by the polariser in its path.

I have tried to have the polarizer sandwiched between the Lensmate and Tiffen 0.75x wide converter, it caused vignetting. I think if you want to use a filter, you need to get a 67mm slim/thin wide angle filter (most of them no front thread), but those filters are expensive (see the link), cost almost the price of the converter. I decided not using any filter on my tele and wide converters.

hmmm.

maybe it won't be a problem with the 58mm Canon wide adapter? The Tiffen is 52mm isn't it? I will have to report back once I get my 58mm lensmate. If it is a problem I will likely just have to refrain from using the polariser on my wide shots.

G3guro,

That is it. There was not a picture of it in the magazine ad, but, that is it. From its length, it seems as though there would be alot of vignetting. And the sample pic shown on that page is of a 2x. Sure would be fun to try it, though, to see how well it works. I am always looking to bring things closer!! :) I can hardly wait for my 2x to arrive. The 52mm lensmate arrived today, so I am all set!
