Was outside tonight. Not much aurora activity.
While standing on the thin ice, it cracked!
The effect with water sipping though made it interesting 
This shot is taken with the 5DmkII, EF 16-35mm@16mm, ISO 3200, f/2.8 for 15s

But last year I was in the middle on this lake. It was more frozen then but the cracking sounds was a bit scary. You also hear very good so I heard another photog drop the lens cover a mile away.
