This is an Air New Zealand boeing 777 flying from Auckland(NZ) to Tokyo, 34,000ft.

By the way its shot from the ground using an 8" reflector telescope.

Good idea! Are the 8" equivalent to a 200mm lens?

At first I thouht you were following it until I saw your text under it.
I've lost the altitude feeling with this one, without contrails or vapor. I know your not, and am very impressed by the clarity of this one, but it looks like my everyday flyovers lining up for SFO.
Once again, I'm not picking on this picture. Can you get one like this with vapor, that would be awesome?

Yes it would of been nice if it was making a contrail but that day there was only a few patches of air that supported contrail formation.
Here is one from that morning making an aerodynamic contrail as well as engine contrails but it was a long way away.

BTW that first photo(and the second) was Taken in Whangarei New Zealand, 140km away from the airport that it took off from.

8" is the diameter of the mirror, it has a 1200mm focal length so its aperture is f/6.
