I attended a function at my grandaughters school this week and I found something very odd. At least to me it was odd.

They had 4 stations set up inside the school where you could have your picture taken with the little students. I noticed that every one of these young photographers had polarizers on their lenses. I'm wondering what the reason was. For the glare off of people's glasses or just to bring more color out?

It's bugged me all week...

The lighting wasn't that high. I think they probably had not taken them off from an earlier shoot. (maybe)
LOL - We'll see what the pics look like!

They just didn't know what they were doing. All 4 wouldn't have 'accidentally' not removed the PL from the previous shoot - so it had to be there by purpose.

Instead of making fun of them, maybe you could have taught them something...

I was not making fun of them. I really thought I was missing something. I had never heard of it and simply asked the question so I could learn something.
I apologize if I came across that way...

If all of them were doing it, then there was a reason-what it was I can't guess but it would be interesting to find out and it would probably generate from one person's experience.

Are you sure they were polarizers or maybe you just saw a UV filter?

They were CPL's and they were using 430EX's if I remember correctly.

I could see where they could use the CPL's with light sources that were polarized to reduce the flash glare on glasses, but that seems pretty sophisticated for that particular use.

Yeah, I don't know. That's why I asked the question on here. Just thought I was missing something...
