Thank you, Sir...I think I'm going to like this thread.:D My camera seems to have a magnetic attraction to "contre jour", "over-blown" and other less pronouncable forms of sensor abuse.

I gotta say... this thread is only slightly about overdone photos and more about mucking about. ;) You're more than welcome though, the more the merrier.

Oh and as an Aussie... I gotta ask you: "Say fish and chips". ;)

... just in case a Mod's watching:

A digital camera uses a sensor array of millions of tiny pixels in order to produce the final image. When you press your camera's shutter button and the exposure begins, each of these pixels has a "photosite" which is uncovered to collect and store photons in a cavity. Once the exposure finishes, the camera closes each of these photosites, and then tries to assess how many photons fell into each. The relative quantity of photons in each cavity are then sorted into various intensity levels, whose precision is determined by bit depth (0 - 255 for an 8-bit image).

I love fish and chips... but the good ones are just so freaking expensive here.

Jeez mate, and I thought there was a little guy in there putting little covers on each "pot" after the right number of photons had fallen in! You learn something new every day....like how good Robbie Deans is!

Oh, in answer to your opening statement ... "feesh 'n cheeps"!!:D:D

I watched Nat Geo Migration last night, and I couldn't believe the details they get with their Video Cameras... their footage is very very very beautiful
