What software program do any of you use for M2TS files from a Sony HD Camcorder?

A friend is having issues getting his HD movie files into a program to edit.

Adobe Premiere is not working for him. He has windows based computer.

I use sony vegas to edit them. Not even sure which premier can do, if even at all w/o conversion.

for awhile, I convert it to another format called Cineform Neoscene.

what version of premiere? last time I ran into M2t files I was able to edit them natively...
