Pete,
I dont think it was either at Darwin or Tindal, the mountains in the background are not consistent with the topography at either location. However, granted the vegetation in the shot gives it that feel!

Check his flickr. Certainly North Aus. My guess is somewhere around Shoal Water Bay?

Rockhampton is certainly a possibility, although I havent been in that area for thirty years and the memory has faded of what the local topography is like!

I know there are low lying hills in that area. Been there a few times.

Pete,
Been doing some research, I am confident the aircraft is a Singaporean Air Force F16-D. In that case I am confident the pic was taken at Rocky airport.

it's a modified F-16 (equivalent to the F/A-18 Super Hornet version of the F/A-18).

i believe it's an F-16I but not for certain.

edit: looks to be an F-16D

Block 60 to be exact...

We've had about a dozen Block 60s from the UAE flying down in Tucson and training with the AZ ANG. In fact, they're in the process of heading home in twos and threes with enough fuel in external tanks to probably run my truck for a year!

Jay,
The RSAF site refers to them as "Block 52J"
