I want to go FF with just 1 or 2 good primes and a telezoom. Looking at exif data , my 28mm 1.8 prime get the most use on my 40D Which is almost 45mm. If I compare this to my 50mm on my old film body , the 50mm seems a lot less wide than the 28mm on crop.
So what do you think. Is the 35L or a 50mm the best choice on FF in my case?

35L, 85/1.8 and 70-200 (whichever is the best variant you can afford, with due regard to aperture and IS).

If the 28mm is what you use most on crop, would you rather go a tad wider or tad longer with a new general use lens? I honestly don't think you can go wrong with either one, it comes down to personal preference.

If you can buy 2 primes and you insist on getting a zoom as well ;), I'd get the 24L, 50ZE/50L and a 70-200 of your liking.

Thrown in already ;) I have a 28 1.8. 50 1.8 and 85 1.8. I used the 50 on my Eos 5 film body to check the difference between 50 on FF and 28 on crop.

My budget and conscience only allow for 1 L prime, I 'm 90% sure that for now 35L + 70-200 4 IS is the way to go, but part of me is still doubting if 24L + 50 1.8 ( or 1.4) + 70-200 4 IS would suit me better.

@ Rsyx, well that's the problem really outdoors I think I lean more to 50mm, I like the little bit more distance between subject and camera. Indoors the 50mm is too tight . I basically bought the 17-50 and use it as a 17mm( 28mm ) prime for indoors.
My budget only allows used market prices for any of the L prime( 24, 35 or50) , the 35L and 24 mark I see the most on the used market, the 50L not that much if any.Besides that for kids, dogs , concerts I need a prime with fast consistent AF. The 50L has not and as much as I like your Zeiss 50 and it's Macro ability, I personally would not use it as a walk around or kids portrait lens. The 50 1.4 and Sigma 50 I hear too much mixed story about build quality and AF inconsistency ( and never been a fan of Sigma). So yeah I guess since there are ( for me at least ) no 50mm I would really like to have. I settle for a 35L.

This typing it down, is really therapeutic btw,...:)
