I went in the woods this weekend, getting lightly doused by the showers filtering through the trees. My main aim was to get some shots of fungi and I managed to find quite a few. Identifying them has not been so straightforward though. Here's a selection; all were natural light (exposures up to 4s) with the 100mm macro.

1. Common puff ball, Lycoperdon perlatum.

2. Not sure about this one - any suggestions most welcome.

3. I think this is Shaggy Pholiota, Pholiota squarrosa.

4. No idea about this one, but it's a nice colour!

5. A big one, that I had to squeeze among the bushes for. I think it's the Fleecy Milk Cap, Lactarius vellereus.

6. An eye-catching one, which may be Russula velenoskyi.

7. A small group that was very attractive to the yellow fly, I think they are Bonnet Mycena, Mycena galericulata.

Well done Mark - You've had more luck finding Fungi than I have - I can't find any around here at all.
I Can't recall what #4 are - bracket fungi of some kind?

like the composition of the last one best. I have a fungi book but never have much luck pinning them down.
2 could be a Collybia species.

Nice series, thanks for sharing. To me, #6 looks like it should be rotated 90-degrees CCW.

G'Jim c):{- ... 2x 50D (Both Gripped), 2x 7D (Both Gripped), 2x 5D Mk II (One gripped), 1x 60D, assorted glass (10-800mm), sundry accoutrements.
The beginner clicks the shutter and says "Let's see what I got." ... The experienced photographer thinks "How can I capture what I see?"

Yes I almost agree. The mushroom was in fact laying on the ground as if fallen over, so that is the correct view, but I also kind of think it would work rotated as you suggest.
