It's a little more risky for the seller since they have no control over the shipping. I wouldn't worry about it though, most go through fine and Amazon will have your back if you don't get your purchase.

He's correct, drop shipping is becoming more and more popular in the last few years since it allows people to run business without having to warehouse lots of merchandise.

Drop shipping has been around since before the Internet became the shopping meca. Prior to that it was also used in the mail order industry for many long years and still is today. Drop shipping is very common.
