artyman Sleepless in Hampshire More info | Nov 01, 2010 03:47 | #5 Seems strange, is the lens mounted correctly or have you tried another lens, also try removing both batteries for a couple of minutes to force a reset. Another possibility is have you done a firmware update that has perhaps got corrupted. Art that takes you there. http://www.artyman.co.uk

Unless its internal electrical problem. there's actually two switches being operated - both the focus & shutter switch. You haven't had the camera out in the rain have you? some fairly old canon camera stuff, canon lenses, Manfrotto "thingy", and an M5, also an M6 that has had a 720nm filter bolted onto the sensor:

When I turn on the camera it auto focuses and takes a photo. I have tried resetting everything, taking out the lens, and taking out the battery and CF card. But I continue to have this problem. I also called Canon and they made me sound like I was crazy. Just wondering if anyone else had this problem. Here's some videos to show whats going on. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lQJ1QtSJw_U http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=srvADDUyHNw Hard to believe Canon has never seen this before. They have to fix it. This needs to be fixed. 7D - - 17-55 F/2.8 - 24-105 F/4L - 100mm F/2.8 - 50mm F/1.8 - S95 / To see all click here

I don't find it at all hard to believe that Canon has not seen this before. I haven't seen anything like this reported on POTN, or anyplace else. This is probably a one-in-a-billion sort of thing, at least in terms of symptoms, and you have to admit that it is somewhat unbeliveable until you watch the video.
