Just curious guys who has never had a problem with their 20D and also who had a minor problem that corrected itself and also who had to send their 20D back to Canon because of problems. Can you please be specific to what problems you had if you did have problems.

No problems. I am sure the vast majority of people have had no problems.

If you are looking about the internet to see how reliable the 20d is based on complaints you need to consider something. You are MUCH more likely to hear from someone who has had a problem, than the 99% of other people who are happy with their camera and are out shooting pictures.

20D - no problems. Grip - problems, which Canon seems to have fixed now (but I'm used to not using a grip by now!).

I had to send my 5 week old 20D back to Canon for calibration as it was giving me very inconsistant result with all my lenses, it was only 1 week door to door and the problem was corrected. I have not had a lockup/Error 99 and I shoot the 70-200 f2.8L IS, I would say stop worrying and buy one. If you do have a problem return it for a new one or let Canon make it right, I have gotten nothing but great service from the NJ facility when I unfortunately needed it.

I assure you I'm not on a crusade to belittle the 20D and it's qualities but I am seriously considering it as an upgrade soon and I'm concerned about all the post about problems with it. And yes granted, you are correct more people will come out and complain than those who have no problem.
What I am trying to do is exactly the opposite of what you think I'm doing. I guess I really should have named the thread who has zero problems with their 20D. because that's what I really want to see, people coming out of the wood work to praise a camera that they have had "no" problems with and not trying to sugar coat problems. I originally meant for it to be a poll, but screwed that up LOL

Zero problems with the camera. Absolutely love it. I'll be returning the grip to Canon after our next shoot.

Couple of error messages (99) and last week my top lcd display stayed on after I shut the camera off, but nothing taking the battery out for a second didn't cure. I just figure they are like computers..........they do some strange crap once in a while but are still in perfect working order. I would say those error messages are just part of the game........unless of course it never turns off.

Only problem I have is with the little joystick for selecting AF points ... it only seems to select up, down and side to side properly ... I can't get the in between ones. This doesn't really bother me though since I like like using the center AF point for 99% of my shots, and I'd rather use the wheel for selecting alternate points anyway.

Purchased in November 2004. 12,000 actuations. Grip, 550ex and a few L lenses. I've had one hang with a 28-70 2.8 and the 550ex. had to pull the batteries to clear. Never happened again. No other issues other than the shutter is really loud in a quiet setting.

Saving for a 1DMkIII and a 300 2.8L.
