Had intermittant lockup problems (every few days) with mine and eventually Canon replaced the body after alledgedly not being able to reproduce the problem. I've had zero problems with the replacement. Still learning how to drive it!

some fairly old canon camera stuff, canon lenses, Manfrotto "thingy", and an M5, also an M6 that has had a 720nm filter bolted onto the sensor:

Problem is I didn't read the rebate carefully and waited 3 1/2 weeks to send it, 4 days after expiration. On the phone, they weren't sympathetic. We'll see. Dumb mistake hua? Also; I see that Dell's got 25% off now, hurts even more "aaaaghhh" :o

The sensor came filled with dust but they say they'll clean it free. Need to buy a kit since the bulbs just spread it around. Otherwise, clean as a whistle!

On the plus - I'm constantly amazed at the crystal results. Its my first digital camera that pretty well matches film quality. I can barely find a single P&S shot from my old S60 or Nikon 5000 (or Minolta 500 or Sony W7) that I care to use any more. The difference is like comparing a $20 crystal vase with one costing $500 - there's just some undefinable quality that makes me go "wow" each time. Maybe some day I'll get a Full Frame and experience a similar difference, but for now I'm very VERY happy.

To add weight to the positive side: no problems with my 20D. Fast, clever, easy to use, and *very* good at low-light situations. Try ISO 1600 or even H and you'll be convinced, especially with fast glass (f/2.8 or f1.8).
Tip: always leave the on-off button on the / (on). The camera turns itself off, but once you press the shutter button, you have virtually no startup time.

No problems worth mentioning after 9,000 shots.

Best regards,
Andy

I assure you I'm not on a crusade to belittle the 20D and it's qualities but I am seriously considering it as an upgrade soon and I'm concerned about all the post about problems with it. And yes granted, you are correct more people will come out and complain than those who have no problem.
What I am trying to do is exactly the opposite of what you think I'm doing. I guess I really should have named the thread who has zero problems with their 20D. because that's what I really want to see, people coming out of the wood work to praise a camera that they have had "no" problems with and not trying to sugar coat problems. I originally meant for it to be a poll, but screwed that up LOL

I have had zero problems myself. Well, I do have 2 hot pixels on night shots with exposures of a few seconds or more, but I think that is somewhat normal.

No problems at all on my 20D or my grip, a joy to use.

Been using mine since December 2004 and never one error 99, or any other problems. Great camera, highly recommended.

If I had to come up with any con on it, I would like to see less noise at higher ISOs... but that sort of goes without saying.

Couple of DSLRs, number of lenses and other stuff... plenty short on talent.

I had to send my month old 20D back to canon. Problem was that it had a bad contact on the rotary dial in P mode. It would send the camera batty....the LCD screen on top would flicker, I would lose my focus points and the LCD screen on the back would not stay on for me to view images.

The fix took 3 weeks from canon it was covered under warranty, they took the dial apart cleaned teh contacts and circuit boards and reassembled it. It has been flawless since *touch wood* I even have a souvenier to remind me of it all. A persons hair (arm hair it looks like) is wedged between the back LCD screen and the protective plastic.

No problems here. Handles very well during hikes and waterfalls ( lots of spray off ) -

I've been lost and no one sent a search party for me.

No problems whatsoever. Unfortunately I am still a long way from utilising the full scope of this wonderful piece of machinery.
