I want to give it a try. So the one that I am thinking is Samyang or Rokinon both of which are available at $399 at e-bay. Rokinon just seems to have one model but there are two types of Samyang. ED and ED/UMC. What's the difference between the two? Also, I guess I cannot get them at cheaper, right?

Thanks a lot guys.

Same lens, one vendor just left out a part. Just get the cheapest one. :)

ed = extra-low dispersion
UMC = ultra Multi Coating

just get the cheapest one. I found mine on craigslist for $30 under retail, brand new ED UMC lens.

so whatever was left out doesn't make any difference? Multi coating isn't important? I am asking because difference between Rokinon (which just has one model) and Samyang ED/UMC is just 10 bucks.

Samyang only make one model and that has two ED elements and is multicoated.

Anything other than a Samyang branded lens is off the same production line - but who knows if Samyang (as the manufacturer) keeps the best performing back to sell under their own brand name?

I of course would/could not speculate on that!

another q:

is it possible to remove distortion in CS5 using lens correction tool? From the images that I have seen, it looks difficult. Anyone has any experience on this?

The 14mm moustache distortion is very easy to remove with adobe lens correct profile.

Or in PTLens if you haven't got PS CS5.

I have PS CS5. I haven't checked if the lens profile is already there - I can check it today, that's easy enough to do.
