I have the 500GB version and so far it's great -- No issues yet. I've also purchased this from mwave about 2 months ago. I believe it comes with a 3 year warranty as opposed to Western Digital's 1-year warranty.

There are 33 reviews all positives 4.5 stars out of 5 for this hard drive model so you can read more into users' reviews.

I would buy it now if I have a need but I'm holding off until Black Friday's "real" deals and hoping for a 2TB for $49.99!

Just pulled the trigger on this deal. No such thing as too much space, especially this cheap.

I just purchased the 2 tb version of this one from Bestbuy (Seagate 7200 rpm) . They have it on clearance for $143.99 and it is the retail box version with the SATA cable and everything.

Some might be interested in this deal too.

Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 1.5TB 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5"

$79.99 with promo code EMCZZYN43 http://www.newegg.com …aspx?Item=N82E16822148337 (external link)

I just had to RMA a less then 3 year old Seagate 7200.11 so personally i would avoid it but for the price it's cheap enough. I have another used primarily for storage and backups which is fine but IMHO there is a reason they dropped the five year warranty on these drives down to three a few years ago. The reason these drives are getting so cheap is because SATA 6.0 drives are working their way into the market. So manufacturers expect most consumers will upgrade in the near future to get the greatly improved speeds. Also it appears many of the newer drives are once again offer a five year instead of the three year warranty but that will probably change once the prices drop.
