I bought a 7D a couple months ago and have been using it in place of a 40D for my every day shooting needs. I've been reading about the auto focus but really haven't had a need to use the expanded center point focus with AI Servo.

Well this weekend I went out to Jasper Pulaski Wildlife Refuge in north central Indiana to shoot BIF and holy smokes!!! It was a joy to watch those focus points dance around as it kept track of my subject. I had so many keepers I was giddy. Here is one example that I just posted in the Bird section.

Glad to see you are enjoying the camera. I had the same feeling when moving from a 20D to the 7D for shooting motorsports.

That bird is angry that you took his picture, you can see it in his eye!

Look at that eye! :D

That's what the 7D is all about! :D

Great shot. I live right next to a GIANT lake and another one thats HUGE. I cannot believe I haven't gone "birding" yet. No long lenses I guess.

I have to assume this was taken with the 70-200 F/2.8 right?

I don't think my 55-250 would get an image like this...

Wonderful, Chris. For the past year, my 400/5.6 has been on my 7D probably 95% of the time. As far as I am concerned that combination makes a perfect combination that is hard to beat without spending some really huge bucks. All of my other lenses are getting jealous. ;)

I really enjoyed the lighter weight of this lens after using a 600 f.4 several times. And with the enhanced AF and 18 mp it is a winning combo for me as well.

mrgooch, here is the original straight out of camera and yes I used expanded center point and ai servo:
