a club at my university has a staged performance show coming up this weekend and i volunteered to take photos for them.

I plan on shooting with the 50 1.8 and also the 70-200f4 along with a 430exII

could i get away with decent results?

heres an example of a performance on that stage I will be shooting from

If they allow flash, it would help, but usually even for the Peewee events, Flash is discouraged in a staged production as it ruins it for everyone else involved.

If the light is okay, you might survive @ f/4 and no flash with the ISO pushed to the max...

Looks like pretty decent lighting.

Don't use flash, it will kill the mood.

Use high ISO (1600 or more), lens wide open, and hope that you get a shutterspeed of above 1/125s. (if 70mm or IS lens) or 1/250s (minimum for 200mm, no IS)

Use tungsten WB, shoot Raw.

Have a read in a few of the threads below yours, and the FAQ.
