Went for a bit a wander around some lake area in Birmingham this afternoon. Decided I wanted to shoot ducks, but shot geese instead. Interesting hobby, this shooting of the wildlife. The softness of the Tamron at the far end was apparent but working with that pre-knowledge, I'm pleased with my first geese.

All C&C welcome as always :)

Geese and swans here and the geese look very nice here as a group but the sun has blown out some of the highlights and left some distracting areas in the image. The swan shots are not to bad but the uneven lighting and areas of shadows with with some very bright areas of white do make these as good as they could be, always try shooting with the sun to your back if at all possible and shoot early in the morning or late in the day for birds when the light will be nicer for the image and nicer to the image.

Thanks for the kind words rrom Dan & the tips from DS :) Will take your suggestions on board next time I go bird shooting :)

The geese were a bit weird, the water was brown & seemed stagnant, their feathers etc everywhere. Apparently the water there is quite polluted but they refuse to move somewhere cleaner & combined with the low water levels, the place did look a complete mess.

The other lake nearby was much cleaner (& more blue obviously, LOL).

/bird mantra "sun to back, late afternoon" (no chance of me & an early morning shot, believe me, LOL)
