never been to that area before.
South Wales has great weather at the moment, how about the north east coast.
thanks in advance.

Martin - plenty of photo opportunities in Northumberland, Bamburgh Castle, Lindisfarne, Alnwick Castle. Also, take a boat out to the Farne Islands from Seahouses - though perhaps a little late for getting the birds. Loads of other places - looks all the better if you have good weather.

We are staying in Alnwick so sounds close to the places you sugested, not been to the area before, did find a few images on Pbase from Northumberland, looks good.
Cheers

Recommend that you drive up to Bamburgh, park the car and then walk down to the beach. You should get a great shot (weather permitting) of the castle - you will see the view on postcards/tour books etc. I was there last month - weather was abysmal - gale force winds and torrential rain. Took a few shots but have not posted them - don't want to be ridiculed. Also check tide times for Holy Island - for Lindisfarne Priory and castle. Look forward to seeing the results.
