touchup paint for 1d body

My 1d mark II has a few brassing spots. I'm not too fond of bare metal--is there a particular matching paint you guys recommend? I'm looking for actual useful suggestions--none of the standard fare (oh no, better throw it away--or--it's battle damage, be proud).

I assume the black body paint they use is a match on ALL of the metal bodies Canon has recently manufactured?

I to was wondering this same thing the other day.

I've found this thread with one alternative paint, but there's hardly anything to go on here. Just about the only recommendation I find online is to use a black sharpie marker...

There are a few more suggestions here, but the vast majority of the respondents are smartasses. Funny, but useless.

use black touch-up paint pen, matte black, the one intended for guns/rifle.
ask your local sports good store or try ebay.

How big are the brassed patches, you could try enamel model spray paint.
not really sure whether the gloss or matt would suit the 1d finish. But gloss is normally tougher.
Mask off and spray lightly to build up the layers.

I have used flat black model paint that I purchased at a hobby store. I used a tooth pick to apply a few very thin layers to get the desired finish. It will not rub off like magic marker will and the color looks almost identical to the factory paint. If you make a mistake applying the paint, use just a little bit of nail polish remover on a cotton ball to remove it. Just take your time and it should look great!

Very small patches--tiny dings really. It'd be too much of a pain in the arse to tape off and spray.

I've seen this suggestion elsewhere as well. Is there a particular brand or model I should be looking out for? I don't really frequent gun stores in my area. I'd prefer something specific I can just buy online.

I don't think sharpies would rub off... in fact I think I may just give sharpie market a try on one of the small dings, and see how it looks.

I may give the model paint suggestion a try as well--only $2.50 a bottle at my local hobby shop.

You should be able to find paint pens at any auto parts store.

I've tried all the quick, cheap, and easy fixes--and got my moneys worth every time.

Markers wear off and don't match--paint needs surface prep to stick and usually flakes off.

I say leave them how they are until you decide to sell the camera...then try to make it look new!

I got mine used--so no, I didn't really earn the dings. I'd rather make it look new now--not later.

Buy a can of "L" lens touch up paint and make the most bad-a** camera on the face of the planet.
