MOkoFOko

none of the standard fare (oh no, better throw it away--or--it's battle damage, be proud).

Every time someone starts these thread the same comments start that don't add to it or help but instead it is the same opinion that some how the person who wants to maintain the appearance of there own camera is flawed and incorrect.

Eh, what can you do. People will speak their mind no matter what you say.

Thanks for your opinion, but I intend to touch the body up regardless. This is a thread about removing the battle scars. What you've said really doesn't add anything of value to the conversation...

Dupli-Color (at auto parts stores) has a "Bumper Coating" spray paint which is an amazing match in color/sheen/texture on Canon bodies. Applied with a fine artists' brush it works great in scratches and dings, because you're filling in a void, but touching up larger "brassed" areas would be tough because you'd have a hard time blending the edges. Since it's made for weather-exposed car parts, it's extremely durable and won't rub off or chip easily.

Nope. I even called Canons parts division to see if I could buy some. They have no part listed for sale--just the L-paint. Sharpie looks horrible. Bought a used body with some touchup paint already applied--that looked horrible as well.

Got my used 1D today! I used the Flat black pen to darken some spots around the shutter and it's looks pretty good, actually better than I thought. I got it from Amazon.com in case anybody wants one. Thanks to the person who posted it as a suggestion.:D

I chipped my paint, just a little spot on mine. I took a can of flat back rust-oleum, sprayed it in a container and used a tooth pick to apply it, great match. I would guess if one did not know, they would not know!

Hmm, I really like that idea. I may give that a try, but with a fine paint brush. A toothpick might be a bit too uneven for larger scars.
