After seeing this video from Tom Lowe, I have to admit that the video that I have not even touched yet with my 5DII might become a compelling thing. I like the time lapse used and how clear the sky is with pretty decent dynamic range where the dark objects in front of the sky still keep their eerie dark look. I wonder if the 5DII with good glass is capable of such video. I can see that as stills, some of the pictures would be pretty awesome but somehow as video it looks incredible.

Actually after looking at some of the work on the site ... it does seem that they are using a 5DII. What a fantastic way to advertise the capabilities of this incredible camera if you have the skill.

Isn't a timelapse just a series of pictures though?

But yes, to answer your question, the 5D2 is perfectly capable of amazing video...in the right hands.

If the 5Dmkii is good enough to be used to film television series episodes and commercials I would say the video is killer enough for anything one of us might do with it.

The 5D MKII video is amazing and is used over other equipment (RED) due to cost and size.

You just need to realize that doing time lapse with a 5DII or any DSLR puts a lot of wear on the camera. To create smooth video you need at least 24 frames per second (double check this), so a 5 minute video would need 7200 photos. I did some time lapse photography on a road trip but I bought a compact camera just to save the shutter on my 30D.
