Customising Lightroom

Can Lightroom be customised to do either of these things:

- Not take you to 'Previous Import' when you import photos?

- Apply settings to multiple photos at the same time when in the develop tab? For example, when pasting develop settings or setting as rejected, it will do it all of the photos at once in the library tab, but you have to click on each photo when in the develop tab.

Thanks

Not sure about the first but you can apply settings to multiple images at once.

1 - Develop your initial photo and get the settings to how you like them.
2 - Hold shift and click the last image you want to develop, or, hold Ctrl and select individual multiple images to develop.
3 - Click on the Sync button. This will apply the settings to all selected photos.

Alternate method: Do you see the up-down switch on the left side of the Sync button in Mike's illustration. That turns on Auto Sync and any edit you do to the active image will be simultaneously applied to all the selected images.

Thanks, that is very helpful.

Is there also a way of setting multiple ratings/flags/colours at once in the develop tab?

Not clear as to what you are asking here -- maybe you could explain exactly what you are trying to do.

Use the develop module for developing, use the library module for library stuff like flagging and rating ;)

Two more methods for applying settings to multiple files.
1. Create a preset from your fits file and apply it to others.
2. Use the Copy/Paste method. In the left panel in the develop module you can select copy, then check the settings you wish to use. Next, select the remaining files in the filmstrip and click paste in the left panel to apply.

What I would like to do is to select multiple photos in the filmstrip, press one of the keyboard shortcuts for flag/colour/rating, and for all of the selected photos to be given that flag/colour/rating. I seem to be able to do that whilst in the library tab but not whilst in the develop tab. I would like to be able to do it in the develop tab; is it possible?

Thanks

Not that I know of. Pretty sure that's limited to working in grid mode in library.

Yeah, except I use the P and X keys all the time in the Develop module to flag stuff for deleting and working on, but I definitely can't see doing organizing as a whole in the Develop module!

Is there a way to have the date automatically added to the caption when importing a photo?

I'm not sure of how you would do that when Importing specifically, but it can be very quick to add a caption to selected photos once you are in the Library module.
