These thunderstorms were over the Tampa Bay area on Thursday, 25 Aug 2005 while Hurricane Katrina was a weak storm approaching south Florida. 18-55mm kit lens, 18mm, f/8, ISO 200, polarizer.

A couple very nice shots here but I have to say that the bottom image looks to have some distortion to the image as it has an upward curvature from the center here I think they have ways in Photoshop to fix that though. Nice images!

Yes, Dragonslayer, there is some distortion. I am a real newbie with PS and just haven't gotten to that part yet. These individual showers were moving along at 25-30 mph, so the sun would be shining, then get very dark, rain like crazy for a few minutes, sun back out, etc. Real tropical stuff.

We were spared, unlike our friends on the northern Gulf Coast. Hurricane Katrina was a calamity like few have ever seen, and certainly not in North America. I think New Orleans as we knew it ceased to exist this past Monday :sad: :( :( :( :( .
