It has good lighting, bu no interest for me. Up your contrast or try it in B+W.

It's not a real high-key anyhow with the BG not being pure white. Looks like a shadow around the arm, neck and a bit around the head too--distracting. Otherwise, besides what's been mentioned already, looks good.

I guess having the softbox right behind the camera kinda gave the shot a ringlight-like halo.

Thanks for the feedback and comments. Keep them coming! I'm definitely starting to see things I never would have on my own.Trying to make edits along the way to make this image as good as possible.

Better?

There you go! Much better! Just one more small thing: the reflection in the glasses is slightly distracting. Might try to clone it out, making the lens uniform, for silver-mirrored effect.

Definitely better. That's more like it. As was mentioned as well, the sunglasses reflection should be fixed if it's worth it to you.

Just re-edited to get the reflection out. I'm also having some trouble with getting what's on my screen to upload to flickr....my pictures all seem to come out significantly darker when uploaded to flickr...this happen to anyone else?

I am using a laptop, but I haven't changed the angle of the screen or moved, so idk.

Here's another re-edit. Still trying to get my editing down

OP I like the image and note the critiques already mentioned.

That's an interesting statement. What if the background were a faint yellow in zone 9? Would this be considered high key or is high key defined as pure white only? I thought it was a relationship of tonal values background to subject. Thanks in advance for any additional information.

Thanks! Studio lighting is definitely taking some time to learn, but it's good to get some critiquing and feedback so I can learn what/what not to do while sticking to my own style.

Sorry, I meant as in pure white only as high key can be more than that of course. Interesting first question but not doable as that'd be pure white and so you wouldn't see any color.

I hate to break it to you, but this just doesnt work in color, also there is too much head room above and on the side and the skin tone doesnt seem even to me too..... B/W suits this better. If you had an interesting background, than color would have been perfect for this, but seen that your vest is white and the background is white, you might as well have this in b/w.
