No idea where I should post this but I thought it was too cool to NOT post! So, for to celebrate 50 years of making cameras, Canon released design specs to PaperKraft.net (as I understand it) to produce EXTREMELY complex paper cutouts with instructions for the Canon 5D Mark II, AE-1 and FLEX camera bodies with lenses. Sound weird? See the images below and youll understand what Im talking about! Amazing huh?

Yes those are made ENTIRELY out of paper meticulously folded and glued! Cool huh?!

Here is where I first read about it: LINK (external link)

Here is the PaperKraft page for it all: LINK (external link)

Here is a link to some 110lb card stock (same thickness as a 3x5" index card): LINK (external link)

Enjoy and be sure to post back with images if you decide to give this a go!

Ha ha! I am actually thinking of giving it a go! Be a great little project during down time at work! Need to find some good card stock and a precise glue applicator first though. Wouldnt want to go through all the trouble only to have it be unstable or look sloppy!

Just printed up the 5D2 one and hope to try it. I am Asian, I do like details and this is quite a challenge. May take me about 3-4 weeks to cut all the pieces out and put them together, but I'm up for it.

What thickness card? I'm tempted but cannot see any guidance on what to use. And do they do a paper 1Ds 4? Now that would be worth trying.

No idea, the only thing they sort of specify is an A4 paper size, but Im sure any size you print all pages at will be fine as its all relative.

I was kinda thinking of trying maybe ~60lb card stock?

I printed on index card weight stock. It's like ridiculously sturdy, more than cardstock.

Printed mine out on regular legal size, and will see if I can get it put together before Canon tech fixes my 5DII. ;)

Well you can get card stock in many different weights. Based on this website on paper information (LINK (external link)) the standard weight for an index card is 110lb. Card stock can fairly easily be found at that same weight. For example: LINK (external link). Keep in mind though that some printers do have trouble printing on paper weights that heavy.

Anyone got any suggestions on a glue/glue applicator that would be up to this project?

I have done similar projects and have found Elmers white glue to work best for me.
