Hello everyone,

I am planning to buy a monitor calibrator but my budget is only below $100. I have found two calibrators namely: Pantone MEU116 ColorMunki and Datacolor DC S3X100 Spyder 3 Express.

Of these two, I've read that the ColorMunki is getting good reviews but all I can find about it are for the more expensive models and not the MEU116 specifically. The Spyder on the other hand is tried and tested but I've read that there are problems with the software causing color casts.

Can you please guide me and share with me your experiences with any of these two? Is buying any of the two worth it?

By the way, I am using Windows 7 64-bit just in case you have other suggestions.

Thanks in advance.

Save your money and buy AT LEAST a Spyder3 Pro. ($130). I'd rather see you spend an additional $30 than throw away $80.

Personally, I think that if a calibration kit doesn't allow you to specify luminance value, it's not worth buying at any price.

My recommendation:

I agree with Chas P. Save your money a little longer, you'll be glad you did. I would recommend the X-rite i1 Display 2 if you are able to wait.

Thanks a million Chas P. and tduff!

I guess I would have to defer buying and save up for the Spyder3 Pro. The X-Rite i1 is too high for my budget.

Just keep saving. it's amazing how fast you can save a hundred bucks with just a few less beers, Starbucks coffees, fast food lunches, movie tickets, cigarettes, or whatever.
