No Fee Personal Paypal Gift Not Available

I tried to send a Personal/Gift payment yesterday using my bank account but I was not able to do it. I had to use my credit card instead and was charged a fee. Has anybody had this problem recently and does anybody know what is going on?

I think you can only gift if the funds are already in your account. Not sure because i've never gifted but there is another trick you can use Mass Pay. The only catch is you have to upload a tab delimited file since it's designed to send multiple payments. The fee is 2% with a cap of $1 per payment but you must have a Premier account to use the feature. Although they mention Spreadsheet for tab delimiting you can use tab spacing in Notepad it works the same.

Either way you need the funds in your paypal account.

I thought you could send from your bank account too, just not credit card, nice to know that the funds have to be in your account.

You can send echecks from your bank account at a $5 fee. Masspay is $1 and personal gift is $0, but you have to have funds sitting in the paypal money market account.

Maybe that is a newer option then, not sure. I always just have the funds in the account, it seems.

you have to have balance in your account or use your bank accound as funding source. If it uses CC and shows fee, cancel it go back and try again it'll show up.

switch to chase quickpay

I agree with the quick pay, I would rather use it, I even have a Chase account. I thought I read if you use your bank account you can send personal gift without fees, but I tried and it would not let me select my bank account as funding source. Has anybody sent gift with bank account as funding source the past few days?

Also keep in mind that PayPal has been cracking done on accounts that have violated their TOS regarding gift payments. I know several people who have accounts that have had the gift option disabled by PayPal.

That is what I do as well and just did on Wednesday.

What type of account do you have Duane?

Apparently Business accounts for example cannot receive free gift payments.
