Saw on another forum that Canon Professional Services Europe had posted its latest newsletter with articles on the new products. Thought it might be worth a look (http://www.cps.canon-europe.com/articles/) (external link), but I never got that far.
Was interested in seeing what membership requirements were for CPS in Europe. Following some links, I came up with this:
'Canon Professional Services is a membership programme created to support professional photographers owning Canon professional equipment for use in their daily work....
"Those who wish to become a CPS member must meet the following minimum equipment ownership requirements:
Two Professional AF Canon SLR bodies
Three Canon L series lenses

"Potential members should have a valid Press Card, or another accepted credential showing them to be a full time Professional. Membership of an officially recognised Professional Association is also valid. Equipment Serial numbers are required for registration - These will be incorporated into our database to assist you should your equipment ever be lost or stolen. "

Interesting that, on my desk right now is a membership application for CPS in Canada. The membership requirements state it is open to "full-time professional photographers who are using or are considering using Canon photographic equipment."
Membership application should be accompanied by verification of pro status (working press needs copy of current credentials plus letter from boss, freelance or commercial/studio needs 3 letters from clients, plus samples of work, etc. etc.)

No mention in Canadian application of owning three Canon L lenses .... guess here your work proves your professionalism more than the lenses you own.

cheers,
jim
