Initially I had the connection problem with 550EXII on 5D mark II. After that I've sent in for the fixes.

It did solve the problem for a while.

After a few months the same problem popped up again.

I had but not even worse. I've tried to mount the 580exII for few times but there's not flash icon shown on the viewfinder. The batteries was fully charged.

I tried hard to mount and dismount. At last I managed to get the flash icon but after a few shoot, it suddenly gone.

So anyone with 5D mark II has similiar problem?
If yes how do you guys solve it?

Canon warrants their repairs for 90 days, so if you're still in that timeframe, send it back in.

Haved checked the receipt. It's already past the warranty period. But is this is a common problem?

i cant say it is a common issue, but then again, i might got lucky, i used the 5dmkII with my ex580II quite a lot, on camera and off camera and never had any issues since day 1...sorry

oh, then it's really my bad luck then :-(. Then I've not choice but to pay again for the fault :-(.

But is it possible that the mounting is fragile such that it was spoilt while I was mounting it roughly while I was on duty?

This might help if the problem is with the flash contacts.

I had a similar problem on a 5D. It showed the icon and fired the flash but the camera/flash were not communicating. No such problem with the 5DII, yet ;-)a

Bohdan - I may be, and probably am, completely wrong.
