To use the method you were trying to use, you have to have a direct link to the file it's self. To get that link from Smugmug, click on the "share" button and then "get link".

Now, as for the image... first thing that pops to my mind is corrupt image file. Cause could be a faulty memory card or by a random error on the card. Do a full format on a computer and then the camera and see if the issue continues or try another card
