well i have finally finished my 4 Seasons Series..

it was lots work but totally worth it..

this series is inspired by a great russian photographer Oleg Igorin... he is the man ! and i say he has gained my attention as an industry standard.

though i have only seen 2 seasons with his shots.. but it was enough for me to say: "I want to do this !"

and do it not in a studio.. and with my twists and local talents..

so here is my series..

---------------

Aurielle ~ 4 Seasons ~ The Beauty of Spring

This is a continuation of my 4 Seasons series
i had done the winter photo and now the SPRING..
Model is a bride to be this year, Aurielle is to going to marry her high school sweet heart, who happens to be pitching for the L.A. Dodgers(MLB) team maybe you have heard of them, and i was lucky enough to be their wedding photographer
with Aurielle's stunning beauty it was a natural choice to use her for the Spring photo.
the hardest part was coming up with my own original concept and not to copy anybody else's..
i also called on my good friend Ryan O Hicks for support to come out if there were any thing he can help with he would gladly help. (Thanks Ryan..!)
this shot was some what complex in concept.
i wanted motion in all my 4 Season Series Shots and this was the challenge.
Create something beautiful, something with motion, do it not in a studio, and in a place where all photogs probably started out in.. a parking garage..
Being this was such a large production, we had Mother, Father, Brother and GF helping.
Timing was the challenge, getting every body on sycn including me.. it took about 12 shots to get the job done.
lighting was a 4 light set up.

1. Key light was AB 1600 @ 1/3 power with PLM 64 as a light mod
2. 2 Speedlights 580 EXII at full power as side kicker each in a shoot thru umbrella
3. one 550 EX in a 28 inch westcott with green gel for the wall background.
Model and Beth (mother) went to flower store 2 hours before to pick out the colors and then from there were created the outfit and lipstick followed.
set up shot is here credit to Ryan Hicks
set video is here credit to Ryan Hicks Set Up Video
thanks goes out to Aurielle, Mother, Father, Brother, GF, and Ryan.. i could not have done this with out your help and multiple takes..
pham..

Kate ~ 4 Season ~ Summer Dream

Kate in this warm summery country scene makes this a perfect Summer Dream

i since i have joined flickr, photo processing is another thing i see as a weakness in my game, so i am constantly working on that part.

i have spoke about learning post processing recently in an interview, but the short version is this:

there is only so many ways to light a shot.. and most all have been done already, but..

the way you post process a file is your own signature..

"Ways to take a photograph has been beaten over and over, and there are only so many ways to light up a subject and all iterations have been exhausted. So it leaves innovations in Post processing, Compositions, and the ART of photography lays with the Artist him or her self.. (the jaw dropping photo created in the artist mind is conceived way before the actual lighting set up is done and the execution of the conceived photo is the easy part.. then the post processing becomes the signature of each Artist.) " by phamster

lighting here was one single beauty dish with AB1600 at just over half power.. camera right about 8 feet way from Kate

Aurielle ~ 4 Seasons ~ The Splendor of Fall

i just have be crazy busy this Fall and have not had time to do anything for my self..

But with Aurielle's engagement shoot lead to us working again gave us an opportunity to do this shot...

hopefully this fulfills the expectations of what the 4 Seasons Fall shot should be..

i wanted some thing Beautiful, Something Strobist Style, with the Phamster Twists..

lighting was pretty simple..

Key Light was an AB1600 with Beauty dish with a grid

back lighting was a Simple Speedlight with an orange red Gel @ 1/2 power about 8 feet up and pointing down about 8 feet away.

Aurielle's mother was pushing the branches inward about 10 feet away to fill in the frame just so.. Thanks Beth !

An Thanks to Aurielle for doing this shoot with me because it was basically pitch black in the woods, and about 40 degrees.. what a trooper !

Katie ~ 4 Seasons ~ Magical Winter Wish

this series is inspired by a great russian photographer Oleg Igorin... he is the man ! and i say he has gained my attention as an industry standard.

this shot was done in a parking garage with 3 speed lights.. and a single alien bee strobe AB1600..

i had the glitter cross lighted by 2 speedlights gelled with blue and green.. the green wasn't showing up too well..

anyways.. it is a project i have been thinking of doing for awhile and hadn't had a chance.. but last night presented it self..

1 speed light in the rear and a shoot thru for the wall and partial side lighting

2 speed lights for the cross lighting..

1 AB 1600 for the key light 64PLM was used.

all speed lights were full power

the AB1600 was just below 1/4 power being it was really close to Katie

lots of glitter was use.. LOL.. really fun shot..

Camera:Canon EOS 5D Mark II
Exposure:0.006 sec (1/160)
Aperture:f/9.0
Focal Length:85 mm
ISO Speed:500

Your passion is inspiring, Pham, and as always I love the way you provide background info into the shoot. You're like a magician who reveals his tricks.

Well done.
