From the state capitol building grounds in Des Moines, Iowa.

1. Capitol building dome through the trees...

2. Downtown Des Moines at sunset, buildings in silhouette. I purposely left some of the traffic in the street. I felt it gave a sense of place without being distracting...

IMO, I think #1 would have been more interesting from a different vantage point that didn't have as many branches poking into the frame. I like the idea of framing the dome, but as it is there's just too many of them (stray branches, that is).

In addition, I found #2 to be quite striking. The colors in the sky are appealing and I thought the lights from the traffic added some perspective.

Nice shots. I kind of like the first one with all of the branches. I love the colors in the 2nd & 3rd. We deffinately have had some beautiful sunsets lately. I'm just trying to figure out when you found a day that the camera didn't get blown away by the strong winds we've been having. Nice job.
