They are very soft, did you use a tripod?

A longer exposure with a smaller aperture would have possibly improved these.

The highlights are very blown and there is a yellow colour cast from the sodium lighting that could have been corrected in PP.

The composition is not great

If you want people play with your images, you will need to turn on the image editing flag in your profile.

Your brights are pretty blown. Interesting, photos, though.

I don't know the G12 well enough to know what it's capable of, but drop your aperture and drop the exposure time; get the detail without over exposing. Remember, shadows are a good thing too so when we take shots at night the goal isn't to make the shot look light day. Leave us guessing ... leaving us looking at the image a little ;) Research the rules of "Thirds" for composition ... You're doing pretty good though!! :)

Good advice as usual, Joe.

OP, NEVER believe your light meter when there are large areas of shadow around that should stay as shadow. The little computer in your camera has only one mission in life, and that is to make everything look like an 18% grey card!!!

So experiment, and bracket like crazy, or better still, go manual and take a stop or two off the metered reading, then bracket like crazy! You definitely will need a 'pod or something solid. The huge DoF of the G12 lens will take care of minor focussing difficulties when it's stopped down a bit, but you can't hide camera shake.

Remember, with digital it's easier to extract a little detail from shadows than to deal with badly blown highlights. Keep trying...we've all been there!:D

Growing old disgracefully!

Oh yes, Ricardo has a great point ... the light meter!, keep that little arrow down around the first or second marker from the bottom when shooting at night by adjusting your aperture and exposure accordingly. You're going to be amazed at the different brilliant colors you'll get.

^^ Heed ^^ that advice on a tripod. ;)

The white balance seems off to me unless you were going after a certain color theme. The blue posts in the 1st image are distracting.
