This was my second attempt at volleyball. My high school's team won this match to move them to section finals on Wednesday. One thing I have figured out from two matches of volleyball is that it's very, very hard to shoot, haha. Not only I spend more time watching than I do taking pictures, but I can't seem to get it right just yet.

The theme for our team and cheering section was "pink out." I don't own any pink clothing so I did the best I could (the tape is actually hot pink) Everyone from school, including the teachers, loved it.

C&C welcome so I can do better on Wednesday. Also, the first set from last Wednesday is on my Flickr as well.

The difference between boys and girls VB is the speed... the guys move so much faster and are much more dynamic jumpers. ANd the speed of the ball is so much faster. Gotta get the speed way up... usually at least 1/800 or you'll get lots of blurriness. Watch a bit of the first game to see who the big hitter is on your team, and who the big blocker is for the other team.... they'll tend to set away from the good blockers. You might also want to try some photos standing right to the side of the "up" ref to get some net action. Good first shots, though.

This was my second volleyball match :) I understand where you're coming from with the speed. However, I only can get ISO 1600 with my body. I could probably manage with 1/400-1/640 at 2.8, but the noise would be obnoxious. About watching the game, fortunately I am friends with a lot of the players so I know how they play. But, I still end up watching the game more than I do taking pictures  It's intense and very fun to watch.

I find it's also a lot of anticipation. I play the sport, so I kind of know/anticipate where the action is going to be when I shoot volleyball matches.
