FOCUS PROBLEM

Hi,

I was out testing my new lens today and when i reviewed the pictures i noticed that parts that i thought would be in focus where actually very soft.

On this shot, I used the auto focus on the girls face, and recomposed the shot with the shuttter release half pressed. Then took the shot. As you can see, her face is not in focus. My kit it 450D & Canon 28-135mm.

Any tips on my technique would be appreciated as I am a total amateur keen to learn.

Can't really tell much without the EXIF data: aperture, shutter speed, metering mode, focal length, focus distance (how far you were from the girl) etc.

ISO Auto 100
28-135@53mm
Distance roughly 1.5-2m

Also shot a couple at f/6.7 with much the same results

based on the picture, i doubt this will cause that, but it probably didnt help, but why are you shooting a still shot at 1/60?


bump the ISO and shoot with a faster shutter, also if you focus then recompose, remember not to move forward or backwards, not even a little, it will change your focus range

Just check my ISO, thought it was on auto but it was set to 100. Thanks for the tip
