Kayak in Coquitlam

Shooting longer exposure and this kayaker came speeding into the frame <took me completely by surprise > - no time to recompose and freeze the action ... but (hmmmmm) this works to?

man it was cold down there as well - so this was the last person I expected to see!!

I normally like a bit of motion blur, its underused today. However,on this occasion the wayward canoeist has rather spoilt the scene. You could just crop him and still have a decent scene.

Too bad you didn't react and track the kayaker. It might have made a compelling action shot. You could have gone back to the pristine river shot after he passed. It wasn't going anywhere.

My problem here was that the kayaker was in and out of the shot in a few seconds (the water was running pretty fast) ... and on the banks of the river there were too many branches and trees to even try and follow him down ... it's one of those times when one is completely unprepared <getting darker quicker, cold weather, never expecting to see anyone in the river at all> - also was using one of those silly gorillapod for the tripod - so my camera was completely encumbered <if that makes sense >

I did shoot the scene after he was gone as well
