Well, I have never owned a Mac computer (wife has one), and it came time for me to buy a new laptop.

After searching long and hard, I decided to get a Macbook Pro..15"

I did a few upgrades to it (I am not a computer wiz), and they are as follows.

i7 2.8
8 gig ram
High res anti glare screen
250 gig SSD hard drive

I think that is about it.

Anyway, I hope it is all that I am wishing for!
Just kind of excited and thought I would share.

Bet's that pretty zippy :) Have fun! If you're interested in learning about 'switching', take a look at Lynda.com on that topic.

Congrats! Still need a good external monitor for accurate photo editing.

Thanks for the link!

So you think the screen on the laptop would not be very good for editing? I have not had a chance to play with it yet as I am away on business (until the 18th), so I have not had a chance to run it through the paces.

If this is the case, I guess I had better start looking into getting a screen to go with it.

The screen is quite good for a laptop, but if you're critical about color, you'll need an external.

I use my laptop screen on my MBP to do all my editing and I haven't seen a massive difference (after calibrating) from the screen to the prints. I think the difference is marginal at best but I'm not a pro.

Thanks for the info!
When I finally get home to try it out, I will see if I can live with it as is, or not. I Will most likely get another monitor for it one day anyway, but it would be nice to wait awhile :-)
