Thanks very much...

You're welcome to contact the Arizona Aviation Photographers (external link) and request membership. Since you're in the OC, more than likely, you'd get "Sponsored" status.

You might do better to look at APSoCal (external link) which does far more in your neck of the woods. We happened to share this El Centro outing with them.

I'd also reccomend ISAP (external link) (Interntation Society For Aviation Photography) which is an organization comprised of like-minded shooters of all skill levels. Our next major symposium is tentitively scheduled for June in San Diego. Our last one (back in March) was in Las Vegas and the major outing was shooting at Nellis AFB: My Gallery From Nellis (external link)

Check these organizations out! Best of Luck! :D

Sorry, sorry for everything...

No Kidding. Don't know why we can't have "Tiger Meet" colors on say the Viper or Hog demo teams. This should be a good year for Navy "Color Birds" given that it's the 100th anniversary of NavAir!

Like this one seen at Miramar this year?

This isn't representative of any prior Navy color scheme, but reflects the Navy's new working uniform pattern.

The older (rumored to be unauthorized) VMFA-314 F/A-18C in the lighter digi looked much better in my opinion. The one at Miramar this past year looked horrible to me.

We had this one from VFA-125 at El Centro in the fall of 2009:

More of a "Camo Bird" but it was pretty cool...

Awesome photos!! Is the ISAP mainly for people out west? It looks interesting and I would love to get into aviation photography much more, but where I'm at there doesn't seem to be a lot going on.

ISAP is litterally a world-wide organization. We have a very healthy contingent from Belgium as well as the UK and other EU nations.

US members come from all over. The executive board alone is made up of folks from Texas, Minnesota, Massachusettes and Wisconsin.

Most of the best-known shooters in the business are ISAP members. Paul Bowen, Russel Munson, Chad Slattery, Moose Peterson, Richard Vandermeulen, Tyson Rininger, Jim Wilson and, ME! :D

The "out west" thing is kind of a cooincidence. We were in Vegas this year and next year is in San Diego mostly because of the 100th anniversary of Naval Aviation.

Nice camo.
Google "VMFA-314 digital camo" and check out the pictures... a subdued digi. She visited us when I was stationed at Dyess back in ... 2004/5 ish?

One important tip: Participate early and often (with a high quality level!)

Our AzAP group generally chooses based on participation level with an eye towards those we know will generate the best quality images that get flipped back to the Public Affairs folks.

One hand must wash the other...
