What is the subject? Is it the flare itself? Are we critiquing the flare? The only thing that is in focus is the log on the right side. Now if there were a silhouette of a mouse crawling across below the flare, then you'd have an awesome image. I don't mind lens flare if it sets a subject off in a positive way. Generally lens flare is a nuisance IMO. When we make it part of the subject then it really has to actually help and not hurt the subject.

Did you have a filter attached? Usually more filtration contributes to more flare effects.

The subject is the wooden cabin on the right side of me, I wanted to capture the sun peaking through, I guess it's not much of a subject matter..people are used to seeing horizons and the sun shining over the horizon..I just wanted to try something different...no filter, just a UV protector.

Azam, i saw your website bro, GORGEOUS pictures...dont worry about the haters man. As they say, haters gonna hate. I think your image here is amazing. As a viewer it captures my attention and has me coming back over and over again to view it! The image reminds me of thanksgiving vacation, a cold morning in the mountains in New Mexico lol....I LOVE IT!

Thank you for you generous comment, I didn't take any of that as hate. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I personally don't like to follow a particular style, I want to make my own style...I'm not here to win a popularity contest :)

I'm with argyle. He gave you honest feedback and he told you why he didn't like the photo: no distinct subject in the photo. I tend to agree with him, I'm not seeing where I should be looking. Perhaps the road were more prominent then it would draw one's eye down the road into the bright sun.

I do like the lens flare and think it looks nice.

I would echo the above comments, this is the critique corner, so expect to get critiqued.

Jeez, can you read all the comments I replied to? LOL, this is madness.

I see a really bright blown area in the middle of a picture with a little lens flare around it. This picture seems to be missing, proper exposure, composition and subject matter doesn't seem to matter.

While I love a great flare in the photo, I am totally onboard with Ed. The flare should ADD to the photo, not overpower so nothing but harsh light can be seen?
I understand the concept you are after, but get a subject in focus, then go nutz with flare, just have something we can see besides the humoungous flare:D

you're a great friend, but if Zombies chase us, I am tripping you.

Thanks but I think you'll do a better job than I can. I'm still very new to this, learning as I go along.
